TELEHANDLER COURSE
Aims and Objectives
To provide the practical skills and the operating safety knowledge necessary for operators to correctly prepare, safely operate a Telescopic Handler with a jib or lifting attachment for use with suspended load
(We only conduct on-site training)

Learning Outcomes
- To have a basic understanding of the dangers and their responsibilities as a Telehandler operator
- Be able to locate, identify and explain safe working loads, lifting capacity chart and explain how the manufacturer may reduce the lifting capacity which moving a suspended load, different lifting configurations and working ranges.
- Identify and explain different lifting procedures, explain what task could fall into each category
- Identify any overhead,proximity hazards
- Steering in all modes
- Carried out end of shift and shutdown procedures
Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads Identify any overhead / proximity hazards Ensure telescopic handler is in a safe condition
Course Content
- Responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998 and other relevant legislation.
- Operating Safety Code
- Pre-shift checks
- Factors affecting stability and mobility
- Motive controls
- Hydraulic controls
- Overhead obstructions and safety distance from electrical hazards
- Manoeuvring in open and confined areas and over varied terrain
- Safe load indicators
- Stacking and de-stacking at various heights
- Working angles
- Deploying Stabiliser legs
- Signal Codes with a Slinger/Signaller
- Parking the Telehandler
- Operating in all modes
- Fitting an attachment
